The blades become necrotic and wither, leading to the death of large areas of grass. Small brown pseudothecia appear in the dead tissue. There are laboratory tests showing that Leptophaerulina spp. does not grow at temperatures higher than 25\u00ba C. Abler (2003). The end of summer is when the first symptoms appear, with mild autumn temperatures, high humidity, anaerobic soil, an unbalanced balance of nutrients and low mowing, all of these conditions can favour the appearance of the disease.
\nAscospores of L. trifolii are similar to the morphology of L. macrospora ascospores isolated in China on Poa pratensis leaves on a golf course, but are distinguished by the slightly larger ascospore size of L. trifolii over L. macrospora.
\n<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16002 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cultivospima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Leptosphaerulina-trifolii-300x199.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cultivospima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Leptosphaerulina-trifolii-300x199.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.cultivospima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Leptosphaerulina-trifolii-1024x680.webp 1024w, https:\/\/www.cultivospima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Leptosphaerulina-trifolii-768x510.webp 768w, https:\/\/www.cultivospima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Leptosphaerulina-trifolii-1536x1020.webp 1536w, https:\/\/www.cultivospima.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Leptosphaerulina-trifolii.webp 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>
\nA Large areas of dead plants, B Pseudothecia on the stem, C, D.
