Arthrinium esporlense
DESCRIPTION
Sexual form: not seen. Asexual form: mycelium consisting of hyaline, septate, branched hyphae 1.5-4 µm in diameter. Conidiophores are reduced to conidiogenous cells. Polyblastic conidiogenous cells, aggregated in clusters on hyphae, smooth, hyaline to pale brown, ampuliform, cylindrical or lageniform, measuring 4-22 x 4-8 µm. Conidia brown, smooth, globose with an equatorial cleft lighter than the conidium, (8-)9-12(-13) µm long in frontal view, lenticular in lateral view, 6-8 µm. Elongated sterile cells sometimes intermixed between conidia, lighter than conidia. Crop characteristics. Colonies are flat, moderately spreading with aerial mycelium. In MEA 2% the surface is white with yellow spots, reverse concolorous when ripe.
